WELCOME

This is a curated preview of works showing at The Artist Project 2025. These paintings explore presence, memory, and transformation through soft abstraction and natural forms.

Thank you for taking the time to view this selection—I'm excited for the opportunity to connect.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susie Lee is an emerging Chinese-Canadian self-taught artist based in Toronto. Her paintings blend soft abstraction with natural forms, inspired by childhood moments outdoors and the changing Canadian seasons. Navigating the cultural gap between her Asian heritage and Canadian identity, Susie explores themes of family, generational connection, and gratitude. Her work reflects soft moments of togetherness and the emotional landscapes we navigate in our relationships with loved ones and ourselves.

Balancing a CPA background with her creative path, she paints from a place of calm intuition and quiet resilience.

PORTFOLIO PREVIEW

Holding Absence

A meditative series that explores the stillness and strength found in moments of absence. Through soft florals marked by subtle darkness, these pieces hold space for reflection and emotional contrast.

Moments Between

Each piece in this series is anchored in a sensory memory—childhood joy, coastal longing, moody solitude. These abstracted landscapes act as quiet windows into remembered places, capturing not just the scenes themselves, but the feelings they carry. Blurred horizons and shifting palettes reflect the way memory softens with time, leaving only the emotional imprint behind.

Emerging Paths

This series traces the emotional journey of self-discovery. Through fragmented forms, shifting textures, and intuitive color, each piece reflects the process of becoming—of piecing together who we are, one edge, one shift, one glimpse of light at a time. These works embrace uncertainty and transformation, honoring the beauty in the in-between.
